from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Handball Regional League 2009/10 was the last season of the Handball Regional League before it was replaced by the new 3rd division . As in previous years, it was played in 5 seasons, each organized by its regional association. The champions of all 5 leagues rose to the 2nd handball league . The teams in places 2-10 of all regional leagues qualified for the 3rd division.

Regionalliga North

The Regionalliga Nord comprised the area of the Regionalverband Nord, i.e. mainly clubs from the federal states of Bremen , Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt . This year, 10 clubs came from the state of Lower Saxony and 6 from Saxony-Anhalt. The first game day took place on September 4, 2009, the last game day took place on May 1, 2010.

The Regionalliga Nord started with 6 changes compared to the previous year: The promoters were HSV Naumburg-Stoß (runner-up in the Oberliga Sachsen-Anhalt 2008/2009, they benefited from the waiver of the champions SG Spergau), SG Achim / Baden (champions of the Oberliga Nordsee) , HF Springe (champion Oberliga Niedersachsen) and TV Neerstedt (third in Oberliga Niedersachsen). Aurich and Bremervörde were relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga North 2008/2009 to the Regionalliga North with only 12 points.

HC Aschersleben won the championship and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. In addition to the clubs in places 2-10, two other clubs from the Regionalliga Nord area also qualified for the 3rd division. While the champions of the Oberligen North Sea (runner-up TSG Hatten-Sandkrug, because ATSV habenhausen waived) and Lower Saxony ( Lehrter SV ) rose directly, the master of the Oberliga Sachsen-Anhalt (SV Oebisfelde 1895) lost the relegation against the master of the Oberliga Sachsen ( SC DHfK Leipzig ). Regionalliga relegated from Saxony-Anhalt were incorporated into the new Oberliga Mitteldeutschland.

Regionalliga Northeast

The Regionalliga Nordost comprised the territory of the Northeast German Handball Association. The clubs came mainly from the federal states of Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Brandenburg and Berlin .

Since there were no relegated teams from the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2008/2009 season, there were only 4 changes compared to the previous season: The second team from Füchse Berlin (Master Oberliga Berlin / Brandenburg), the second team from SV Post Schwerin (Master Oberliga Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), TSV Ellerbek (Master Oberliga Hamburg) and the second team of THW Kiel (Master Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein) were promoted to the Regionalliga Nordost in 2009/2010. With 4 second teams from Bundesliga clubs, the Regionalliga Nordost provided most of all 5 regional leagues. This season there were 7 clubs from Schleswig-Holstein, 2 clubs from Berlin, 5 clubs from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and 2 clubs from Brandenburg. The federal state of Hamburg did not provide a club (two clubs from Schleswig-Holstein, however, belonged to the Hamburg handball association).

The Reinickendorfer Füchse II won the championship title and thus made it through to the 2nd Bundesliga. Two clubs of the Northeast German Handball Association rose from the upper leagues to the third division. The teams in places 11-16 were relegated to the newly founded upper leagues Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein and Ostsee-Spree .
