The first men's team plays in the third division . In the youth sector, there has been a cooperation with SC Leipzig 03 since 2007. For this reason, the handball department was renamed “Handballsportclub Leipzig in SG LVB” on July 1, 2007 and thus remained integrated in the large association SG LVB eV. On May 28, 2009, after two years under the name "HSC Leipzig in SG LVB", the handball department changed its name back to SG LVB eV.
In 2007 they had played a friendly game against SC Magdeburg , but they lost it significantly. This game came about because in November 2006, Erik Göthel moved back to SC Magdeburg.
The 08/09 season is one of the most successful in the club's history - never before have there been four title wins in one season: After winning the Saxony championship and winning the Central German and Saxon Cups, the Saxon Supercup was won in August.
The goal in the 09/10 season was to keep the league. But this was not made because only the first 10 teams were allowed to stay in the league. The reason for this is that from the 10/11 season only 4 regional leagues were considered by the DHB and thus a reduction in the number of teams had to be brought about. But they made it into the DHB Cup by winning the Saxon Cup last year. The DHB Cup they won the first encounter against the TV 08 Willstätt , then in the second round against MT Melsungen with 30 : excrete 46th During the season, Sascha Meiner and Jacob Fritzsch could be signed, who had already played for SG LVB in their youth. Both came from their clubs on a free transfer and should strengthen their respective positions.
On May 5, 2010, the handball academy Leipzig / Delitzsch was founded with SC DHfK Leipzig and 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch. The academy is intended to usher in an era of performance-oriented male youth handball in central Germany. The aim of the new junior performance center is "to take part in the upcoming Bundesliga games of the youth in the medium term and thus belong to the 48 best A-youth teams in Germany", says the new club chairman Michael Weßner.
In the 2010/11 season they played in the newly created Central German Oberliga . They were able to secure first place with seven minus points, ahead of their Saxon competitor from Dresden. So you played in the 3rd League East in the following season . In the 2016/17 season, Leipzig failed in the relegation and was relegated to the top division.
Game operations as SG Leipzig II
In the 2017/2018 season, the team reached first place in the Oberliga Mitteldeutschland and thus secured promotion to the 3rd division. In April 2018, SG LVB Leipzig and SC DHfK Leipzig founded a syndicate under SG Leipzig. The Bundesliga team of SC DHfK Leipzig will continue to compete under the brand name SC DHfK Leipzig. The junior teams will also remain unaffected by the name change. The SG LVB Leipzig will play as SG Leipzig II in the 3rd division from the 2018/2019 season .
