Erik Göthel (born October 14, 1973 in Schlema ) is a former German handball player . After his career, Göthel became a player's agent.

Göthel came to SC Magdeburg via the stations Zwönitz , Aue and SC DHfK Leipzig in 1994 . The left-hander won the DHB Cup and the DHB Supercup in 1996 , the EHF Cup in 1999 and 2001 and the German championship in 2001 .

In 2001 he moved to the second division club 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch . With Delitzsch he rose to the Bundesliga in 2005. In the summer of 2006, the banker moved to the regional division SG LVB Leipzig . In November 2006 he moved back to SC Magdeburg, where he signed a contract until the summer of 2007. With the Gladiators he won the EHF Cup for the third time in 2007. After he ran up again for the league club SC DHfK Leipzig in the 2007/08 season, he ended his career.

Göthel made his international debut on March 11, 1998 against Croatia . Just four days later, he played his next and last international match against France .

Since he ended his active career, he has been working as a player advisor and sports manager for the company inteamsports .
