The Erzgebirgischer Handballverein Aue (EHV) is a handball club in the Saxon town of Aue-Bad Schlema in the Erzgebirge district . The club is known nationwide for the success of the first men's team to play in the 2nd handball league .

The club history

The first men's team of the EHV Aue in the 2008/09 season

The EHV Aue was founded in 1990 from the handball section of the BSG Wismut Aue as EHV Wismut Aue . The club later renamed itself to its current name. However, the beginnings of the sport of handball go back to the year 1926. After the Second World War , games were played under the names BSG Pneumatik Erzbergbau and BSG Zentral Wismut Aue . Many handball national players from the GDR came from Aue until the fall of the Wall. From 1992 on, EHV Aue played a total of 19 seasons in the 2nd handball league . In the 2010/11 season, however, relegation to the 3rd division had to be accepted after only an 11th place was reached, which after a change in the German league system did not entitle to participate in the relegation games and thus led to relegation. In the 2011/12 season the EHV played in the east season of the 3rd handball league and achieved immediate promotion.

In the youth area there is a game community with NSG Nickelhütte.
