The HC Elbflorenz 2006 (until October 2012 the official handball club ELBFLORENZ 2006 eV ) is a handball club from Dresden , whose first men's team has played in the 2nd handball Bundesliga since 2017 .
Club history
HC Elbflorenz was founded in 2006 and aims to play in the handball Bundesliga . In the 2006/07 season the first men's team started with the playing rights of HC Sachsen as SG ESV Elbflorenz in the Oberliga Sachsen. In the 2009/10 season they managed to qualify for the newly founded handball league in Central Germany . In 2012 HC Elbflorenz managed to move up to the 3rd division.
The home games of HC Elbflorenz took place in the EnergieVerbund Arena until May 2017 . At the intersection of Magdeburger Strasse / Weißeritzstrasse in the Ostra sports park , a multi-purpose hall suitable for the Bundesliga ( Ball Sports Arena Dresden ) was built between 2015 and 2017 , the main user of which is HC Elbflorenz.
In 2017, the men's team rose to the 2nd handball Bundesliga as champions of the 3rd division East .
In the 2017/18 season, the team occupied 11th place in the table and secured early relegation in the 2nd handball Bundesliga on matchday 34.
