Handball Bundesliga 2017/18

The 2nd handball Bundesliga 2017/18 was the seventh of the single-track seasons and the 37th season of the second highest German division in men's handball in the history of the 2nd Bundesliga . 20 teams played for promotion to the top German league. The season started on August 25, 2017 and ended on June 2, 2018.

mode

20 teams play in the " everyone against everyone " mode with one home and one away game. The first two will move up to the handball Bundesliga 2018/19 , the last four to the third division. In the event of a tie, the better goal difference decides; if the goal difference is the same, there would be playoffs.

Moved up and down

Newcomers from the 3rd league 2016/17 are the champions of the East relay, HC Elbflorenz , runner-up Eintracht Hildesheim and the West relay champions, the Neusser HV and the runner-up VfL Eintracht Hagen . The champions of the seasons north and south ( TSV Altenholz and SG Nussloch ) did not want to exercise their right of promotion, so relegation games took place between the second-placed teams. Hildesheim defeated TSB Heilbronn-Horkheim (South) with 31:25, with the same result Hagen beat HSV Norderstedt (then HSG Norderstedt / Henstedt-Ulzburg) from the North relay.

The Neusser HV will play in the 2017/18 season in cooperation with ART Düsseldorf as HC Rhein Vikings .

Relegated from the handball Bundesliga 2016/17 are HSC 2000 Coburg , HBW Balingen-Weilstetten and Bergische HC .
