The SG Nußloch (SGN, full name Sportgemeinde 1887 Nußloch eV ) is a sports club from the Baden-Württemberg community of Nussloch . The club, founded in 1887, offers judo , handball , athletics , swimming , table tennis and gymnastics .
Handball
SG Nussloch is known nationwide for its handball department. The men's team first took part in the main round of the DHB Cup in 1977 . She was defeated in the first round against Bundesliga club SG Leutershausen at 17:20. In the second participation in 2007 , the SGN defeated MSG Darmstadt clearly in the first round with 14:38, but then retired in the second round after a 28:31 defeat against the regional league team SG Köndringen / Teningen .
After the SGN handball players finished fifth in the handball league Baden-Württemberg in the 2012/13 season , they secured promotion to the 3rd division three game days from the end of the season in 2013/14 . On the last match day of the 2013/14 season, the SG Nussloch women's handball team also secured the championship of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg and thus promotion to the 3rd division .
On January 13, 2020, SG Nussloch Handball GmbH, as the economic sponsor of the game operations of the 1st men's and 1st women's teams, filed for insolvency. On February 12, the club withdrew its first men's team from playing in the third division.
Table tennis
On October 1, 1948, the table tennis department was founded as another sport in the sports community. In the 1960s there was a great boom nationwide, which was also noticeable in Nussloch with a significantly increasing number of members. From now on, Nussloch established itself as one of the leading clubs in the Heidelberg district and maintained its position in the men's and youth sector at district level for many years. Over time, many new clubs were added in the area, which led to a shift in the leagues and Nussloch found itself in the district league. At the turn of the millennium, a number of successes were recorded: District Class Cup Men (2002), District League Champion Men (2004), District Champion Youth (2005), District League Champion Men (2010), Regional Cup Men (2010), Association Cup Men (2010). The last big success was in 2015 for the youth players. Since 2005 you have won the district championship title again.
