Handball Oberliga Baden-Württemberg women
The women's handball league Baden-Württemberg (BWOL) was introduced for the 2000/01 season as the joint top division of the three independent state associations Baden, South Baden and Württemberg, which belong to the superordinate regional association of the South German Handball Association (SHV). It is the fourth highest league within the German Handball Federation after the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga and the 3rd League ( regional league up to the 2010/11 season ) .
14 clubs had qualified for the new Oberliga Baden-Württemberg after the 1999/00 season: the eight relegated from the Regionalliga Süd and the second and third placed from the top leagues of the three regional associations of Baden, South Baden and Württemberg.
BWOL champions and vice-champions are directly qualified for the next higher division, the southern season of the 3rd division.
