The gymnastics community Nürtingen 1859 e. V. (TGN) is a sports club from Nürtingen in the Esslingen district of Baden-Württemberg . The TGN is known nationwide above all for its handball players , who have been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga since 2015 .

In the TG Nürtingen be aikido , badminton , basketball , disabled sports , boxing , Fistball , recreational sports , handball , athletics , parkour , sports rehabilitation , swimming , skiing , dance sports , table tennis , trampolining , gymnastics and volleyball offered.

Handball

The first women's team rose in the 2000/01 season from the newly founded Oberliga Baden-Württemberg to the Regionalliga Süd . In the 2005/06 season , the relegation from the Regionalliga Süd to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg took place. In the 2010/11 season she was champion of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg and rose to the newly founded 3rd League South . In this, the TG played from the 2011/12 season to the 2014/15 season . As champions of the 2014/15 season, the TG rose to the 2nd Bundesliga , in which they have played continuously since the 2015/16 season .

At the German Athletics Championships in 1975 , Klaus Flakus won the bronze medal in the decathlon . The TG team, consisting of Gerhard Klinger and Fritz Mehl , also won the bronze medal . At the German Athletics Championships in 1976 , the team again won the bronze medal in the same line-up . Fritz Mehl also won the bronze medal at the German Athletics Championships in 1979 .

volleyball

The standing volleyball world champion Martin Vogel works as a player trainer for the TG Nürtingen .

In the active men’s category, TG Nürtingen has been playing in a syndicate as SG Volley Neckar-Teck together with TTV Dettingen and TV Unterboihingen since summer 2017 .
