history
The gymnastics club Unterboihingen was founded in April 1892 and officially entered in the club register in 1901. In 1930 a football department was established at the club, which joined the DFB in 1937 and then entered the lower-class C-class.
Shortly after the gymnastics club's 60th birthday, the soccer team was promoted to the B-class in 1953. A year later a table tennis department was established at the club and in 1960 a judo department was added. One year after the 75th anniversary, the footballers made it to the A-class.
1973 succeeded the soccer team of the gymnastics club Unterboihingen winning the district cup. In the WFV Cup , the team first made a name for itself as a cup fright when the relegated from the second-rate Regionalliga Süd SSV Reutlingen 05 was defeated 3-2. In 1975 they were promoted to the then fourth-class 2nd Amateur League Württemberg and a year later the team reached the final of the WFV Cup against SSV Ulm in 1846 . On May 30, 1976 it came after 90 goalless minutes to extra time, in which the TVU took the lead in the 91st minute. After the higher-class SSV Ulm was able to equalize by Günter Berti in 1846 , it came to penalties . The TVU won it and qualified for the 1976/77 DFB Cup . After an 8-2 home win over the North Baden representative SG Dielheim from the 2nd amateur league Rhein-Neckar and a 2-1 away win at VfR Achern from the 2nd amateur league South Baden, the reigning European Cup winner FC Bayern Munich became the opponent in the third round drawn. On December 18, 1976, the teams ran in front of 8,500 spectators in the Munich Olympic Stadium . After five minutes, the underdog was awarded a penalty. After this was missed, FC Bayern lived up to its role as favorites and came to a 10-1 victory thanks to goals from Gerd Müller , who scored five goals, Franz Roth , Kjeld Seneca , Josef Weiß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge . The team also qualified for the DFB Cup for the following season, but the fifth-rate Lower Saxony association league club VfV Hildesheim was eliminated from the competition with a 4-1 defeat after extra time in the first round.
In 1980 the soccer team's soaring came to an end and they were relegated to the A-class. 1981 saw the establishment of the volleyball and fistball departments at the club . After the footballers were relegated to the district league B in 2004, they returned to the district league A as champions in 2008. After a second place, the team made it through to the district league after winning the relegation. In 2012, however, they were relegated to the district league A and in 2015 even to the district league B. In 2018 he was promoted to the district league A.
