The season 2015/16 the second handball league for women was 31 in their history. 16 teams played for promotion to the highest German division. The season began on September 12, 2015 and ended on May 14, 2016. The first two clubs in the final table were promoted directly to the 1st handball league . The DJK / MJC Trier and the TuS Weibern were relegated from the last season of the 1st handball Bundesliga . SG Bretzenheim, SG 09 Kirchhof , SV Werder Bremen and TG Nürtingen were promoted in the 3rd division .

mode

The mode was everyone against everyone with a home and away game. The leader of the table and the second-placed team were promoted directly to the 1st Bundesliga at the end of the season . Due to the reduction in the 3rd division , only the last two teams were relegated directly. In the event of a tie, the better goal difference decided.
