The handball Bundesliga 2015/16 (full name after the main sponsor DKB Handball-Bundesliga 2015/16 ) was the 38th of the single-track seasons and the total of 50th season of the highest German division in men's handball in the history of the Bundesliga . The season began on August 22, 2015 and ended with the last matchday on June 5, 2016.

Newcomers to the new season were the SC DHfK Leipzig , the ThSV Eisenach and the TVB 1898 Stuttgart . On January 20, 2016, the handball Bundesliga revoked HSV Hamburg 's license for the current season. The club was the first to be relegated. The team of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen became German champions for the first time in the club's history . ThSV Eisenach and TuS N-Lübbecke had to relegate from the Bundesliga to the 2nd Bundesliga , while HSV Hamburg competed in the 3rd Northern League the following season .

The team from SC Magdeburg secured the DHB Cup , which was played for the 42nd time .

mode

This season - after HSV Hamburg had left due to insolvency and license withdrawal for the handball Bundesliga - 17 teams played in the " everyone against everyone " mode with one home and one away game for the German championship. In the event of a tie, the better goal difference decided. The first in the table on the last day of the match is German Champion 2016. The two first-placed finishers of the season are directly qualified for the EHF Champions League 2016/17 according to the EHF ranking list .
