The handball Bundesliga 1999/2000 was the 22nd of the single-track seasons and the 34th season of the highest German division in men's handball in the history of the Bundesliga . The season began on August 26, 1999 and ended with the last game day on May 21, 2000.
18 teams played for the German championship. The first in the table on the last matchday is German Champion 2000. HSG Nordhorn , TSV Bayer Dormagen and TV 08 Willstätt have been promoted to the new season . In addition, the DHB Cup was played for the 26th time.
The German champion in 2000 was the THW Kiel team for the ninth time in the club's history .
Since the 2000/01 Bundesliga season started with 20 teams, one team should have been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga . The relegated TuS Schutterwald went to the SG Willstätt / Schutterwald and remained in the new constellation in the 1st Bundesliga.
