Michael Menzel (born February 9, 1968 in Kamen ) is a former German handball player and handball trainer .

Michael Menzel came to THW Kiel in 1994 through the stations SuS Oberaden , SG Weiche-Handewitt and SG Flensburg-Handewitt . In a total of 240 Bundesliga games , 90 of them for Flensburg, he scored 411 field goals (0 seven-meter goals). In 2000 he had to end his active career because of a cartilage damage in his knee. He worked from the 2000/01 season as assistant coach to Zvonimir Serdarušić until 2003.

For the national team , Menzel played 16 international matches in which he scored 27 goals.

Michael Menzel is a retail salesman. He is married to Sylvia and has one son. In the 2008/09 season he was an assistant coach at the then national division SG Bordesholm / Bruges. Menzel has been the supervisor of the Bundesliga team at THW Kiel since 2010.
