Steinar Ege (born April 10, 1972 in Kristiansand , Norway ) is a former Norwegian handball goalkeeper .

Career

In his youth and as an amateur, Ege played for the Norwegian clubs Kristiansand IF, Øyestad IF, Stavanger IF and Viking HK . His professional career began in 1997 with the German Bundesliga club VfL Gummersbach . In 1999 he moved to the THW Kiel , with whom he won two German championships . On November 29, 2002, Ege was loaned to the Spanish first division club CBM Gáldar by THW Kiel until the end of the season. He then returned to VfL Gummersbach. In 2006 he moved from Gummersbach to the Danish club FCK Håndbold . After four years at FCK, Ege joined AG København . After AG København went bankrupt, he ended his career in summer 2012. In March 2015, Ege was reactivated by the THW Kiel until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Steinar Ege played in the Norwegian national handball team , for which he played 262 international matches and scored one goal.

After retiring, he was the goalkeeping coach of the Norwegian national team.

The trained carpenter is married and has a daughter. His wife Lene also played handball professionally.
