The handball Bundesliga 2000/01 was the 23rd of the single-track seasons and the 35th season of the highest German division in men's handball in the history of the Bundesliga . The season began on August 11, 2000 and ended with the last game day on May 20, 2001.

For the first and so far only time, 20 teams played for the German championship. The first in the table on the last day of the match is German champions 2001. The new season's promoters were SG Solingen , SG VfL / BHW Hameln and Eintracht Hildesheim . In addition, the DHB Cup was played for the 27th time.

German champion 2001 was the twelfth time - for the first time in all of Germany - the team of SC Magdeburg .
