Career

Christian Schöne completed an apprenticeship as a banker at the Stadtsparkasse Magdeburg from 2000 to 2003 . He then began studying economics at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg , which he completed by distance learning . He has been married since June 24, 2006 .

From 1996 to 2005 he played for SC Magdeburg, with whom he was German champion in 2001 and Champions League winner in 2002. He celebrated his greatest success with the national handball team in 2004 when the team became European champions in Slovenia under coach Heiner Brand. In 2005 he moved to Frisch Auf Göppingen within the handball Bundesliga.

For the 2009 Handball World Cup in Croatia , Schöne was nominated for the injured Christian Sprenger and the sick Stefan Schröder during the preliminary round.

On June 10, 2009 Schöne threw 17 goals in a 54:29 victory in the European Championship qualifier in Bulgaria. This made it the first player to beat Hans-Günther Schmidt's record, which had existed for almost 40 years, on December 11, 1970, when he scored 13 goals in an international match for the DHB in an international match against Yugoslavia.

He was also nominated at the European Handball Championship 2010 in Austria ; He represented Stefan Schröder, who had to leave after the first game due to a torn eardrum.

With Frisch Auf Göppingen he won the 2011 EHF Cup in the final against TV Großwallstadt. On September 11, 2011, his club Frisch Auf Göppingen announced a few seconds before the Bundesliga match against HSG Wetzlar (32:27 for Göppingen) that Schöne had extended his contract until 2015. In 2012, Frisch Auf Göppingen successfully defended the EHF Cup title in the final against Dunkerque HB. After the end of his contract, he ended his career. In 2016 Schöne was reactivated for the EHF Cup quarter-finals against SC Magdeburg and thus contributed to winning the 2016 title. In 2017 he was reactivated after Anton Halén was injured at the end of the season. He was also used in the final of the EHF Cup against Füchse Berlin. Following his sporting career, he became the junior coordinator and, since 2017, also the sporting director at Frisch Auf Göppingen.
