The DHB-Pokal 2001/02 was the 28th edition of the men's handball cup competition. The final took place on April 7, 2002 in the Alsterdorfer Sporthalle in Hamburg , which was sold out with 4,400 visitors . The winner was TBV Lemgo for the third time .

108 teams from the Bundesliga , the 2nd Bundesliga , the Regional League , the Oberliga and the regional association below the Oberliga competed against each other in the knockout system . There were five main rounds. This was followed by the further playout with two semi-finals and a final in the Final Four .
1 round
The first round matches took place mainly on September 1 and 2, 2001, without the participation of the 18 top division clubs. The TV Jahn Duderstadt and the HSG Kronau / Bad Schönborn got into the 2nd round with a bye.
