The HC 93 Bad Salzuflen (officially: Handball Club 93 Bad Salzuflen eV ) was a handball club from Bad Salzuflen in the Lippe district . The men's first team plays in the 2nd Bundesliga for two years .

history

Under the name Union 73 Bad Salzuflen , the team was promoted to the Oberliga Westfalen in 1979 . As early as 1985, the team was promoted to the Regionalliga West and missed promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga for two years in the finals against OSC 04 Rheinhausen . In 1993 the handball players split off as HC 93 Bad Salzuflen . Under this name, the team missed the qualification for the promotion final against TuS Niederpleis in 1996 . A year later , HC 93 lost the promotion final against TV Angermund .

It was not until 2000 that the Salzuflers made their breakthrough. In the promotion finals, the team prevailed against local rivals TuS Spenge and rose to the 2nd Bundesliga. After a seventh place in the 2000/01 promotion season , the club ran into financial difficulties. In the following season , the Salzufler rose as a knocked-off bottom of the table again and were passed through in the following regional league season 2002/03 . The association then dissolved.

The Salzufler took part in the DHB Cup five times . The team was most successful when it first participated in the 1994/95 season, when the Salzufler reached the round of 16 via TV Emsdetten , TSV Altenholz and VfL Eintracht Hagen and failed there at Bundesliga club TV Niederwürzbach . In 2001 , the team missed the next round of 16 against Frisch Auf Göppingen .
