Dietmar Molthahn (born August 24, 1955 in Dankersen ) is a German handball coach . He coached TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen in the Bundesliga and the youth national teams of the DHB .

career

The trained wholesale and foreign trade merchant Molthahn began his coaching career at the age of 19. One after the other he trained the C, B and A youth of TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen. With the B-youth he was German champion in 1979 (final against TSV Grabenstetten) and in 1981 with the A-youth German runner-up after a final defeat against Eintracht Hildesheim . Then he took over the reserve team in the regional league and after three years moved to the upper division Union 73 Bad Salzuflen , which he led in the first year in the regional league and two years later only narrowly failed to advance to the 2nd Bundesliga when you were in The final of the relegation was defeated by OSC 04 Rheinhausen . In 1988 he joined second division TuS Nettelstedt . In 1991 he returned to TSV GWD Minden and took over the second division team. After the last game of the season, however, he resigned and became senior youth trainer and coordinator at GWD. With the exception of a one-year break in the 2003/04 season, Molthahn still holds this position today. When GWD Minden dismissed coach Milomir Mijatović after a defeat at VfL Eintracht Hagen in the 1994/95 season , he jumped in as an interim coach and made it to the Bundesliga. In the 1996/97 season he helped after the dismissal of Zenon Łakomy again and secured relegation. In 1997 Molthahn took over the C-youth for one season, in 2003 for 17 months and in 2007 for three months the reserve team, and in 2009 the third team, which he led in the second half of the season to promotion to the regional league. From February to summer 2017 he trained the B youth. In between, he jumped in for all of the club's teams when the full-time coach was unable to attend.

National team

In 1989 Molthahn became the German national coach of the B-youth and from January 1992 the A-youth, with whom he finished 5th at the 1992 European Championships in Switzerland . In the summer of 1993 he resigned from the DHB.

He has been very successful with the Besselgymnasium in Minden since the late 1990s. With the school handball players he won two German championships and two runner-up titles as well as numerous regional titles.
