In the 2008/09 season, Lars Walther took over the coaching position from Patrik Liljestrand and led TV Emsdetten to 2nd place in the 2009/10 season and thus in the relegation games of the handball Bundesliga. In these relegation games he first prevailed against the runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga season South Bergischer HC 33: 27/36: 37. Against the third-bottom of the Bundesliga, TSV Dormagen , Emsdetten failed after a 23:27 defeat despite a 29:26 win in the second leg of promotion to the first division.
In the following 2010/11 season, the new coach Patrekur Jóhannesson led the TVE to 3rd place and thus only just missed the relegation games for promotion to the first division. The club qualified safely for the new single-track 2nd Bundesliga . At the beginning of the 2011/12 season, TV Emsdetten was trained again by Patrik Liljestrand .
On May 8, 2013, the TVE achieved early promotion to the 1st handball league with a 29:28 win at SG BBM Bietigheim. Gennadij Chalepo took over as the new coach of the Bundesliga team, which was immediately relegated at the end of the 2013/14 season as bottom of the table.

TurnVilla / Plant II
In 2008 the TVE leased the former administration building of the Schilgen company in the middle of Emsdetten and operates the 880 m² TurnVilla there with great success. The TurnVilla accommodates three exercise rooms, a fitness studio and the club administration and office. The second largest sports club in the Steinfurt district has leased part of the TurnVilla to a physiotherapy practice, and the club's catering facilities in the TurnVilla, the “home game”, have also been leased. In the summer of 2011, TV Emsdetten reopened a former company sports hall right next to the TurnVilla. In the basement of the so-called "WERK II", the fitness studio has been expanded and an approx. 160 m² gym is available on the upper floor.
