Aivis Jurdžs (born August 24, 1983 in the Latvian SSR , USSR ) is a Latvian handball player .

Career

Aivis Jurdžs started playing handball at the age of 19, having played basketball as a child . He played at ASK Riga , with whom he in the seasons 2007/08 and 2008/09 at the EHF Cup participated. In the summer of 2009, the 1.97 meter tall backcourt player moved to the German handball league for TSV Hannover-Burgdorf . After his contract with the Hanoverians was not extended, he ran for the ThSV Eisenach from the 2013/14 season . From July 2015 he was under contract with Bundesliga club SC DHfK Leipzig . In summer 2019 he joined the Latvian club Tenax Dobele. In January 2020 he moved to the German second division team TV Emsdetten .

Aivis Jurdžs is a member of the Latvian national team , for which he has played 84 international matches so far . He was voted Latvian handball player of the year 2013.
