Maik Hammelmann (born February 21, 1981 ) is a former German handball player and today's handball trainer and manager .

As a player, Hammelmann held the position of goalkeeper . His height is 1.82 m. He played for his home club TV Emsdetten in the 2nd Bundesliga . For the 2004/05 season Hammelmann moved from the 1st to the 2nd team at TV Emsdetten. In 2005 he moved to the regional league team VfL Waiblingen . After half a year in Waiblingen, he moved to league competitor TV Bittenfeld , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2006. After one and a half seasons, Hammelmann returned to VfL Waiblingen in 2007. For the 2013/14 season he moved to the Württemberg division TSV Schmiden .

In autumn 2013, Hammelmann, who at that time already had a B license , took over the coaching responsibility at TSV Schmiden together with Tim Baumgart, both of whom worked as player coaches. In the 2014/15 season they went with Schmiden in the league on. In November 2015, TSV Schmiden separated from the Hammelmann / Baumgart coaching duo.

In 2016, Hammelmann returned to VfL Waiblingen in the Württembergliga as assistant trainer and sporting director . Hammelmann also took on the role of coach until the end of the 2015/16 season.

In 2006 Hammelmann was awarded the sports merit plaque of the city of Waiblingen for special services to sport .

Hammelmann has a degree in business administration in the HR department. He works as a personnel officer in Möhringen .
