Gennadij Chalepo ( Russian Геннадий Халепо / Gennadi Chalepo, Belarusian Генадзь Халепа / Henads Chalepa, until 2002 in Germany known as Ghenadij Khalepo ; born January 2, 1969 in Homel ) is a German handball coach and former handball team of the Belarusian national team . He coached the Bundesliga clubs HSG Wetzlar, TuS N-Lübbecke, TV Emsdetten and ThSV Eisenach.

Career as a player

For the Belarusian national team Chalepo played 67 internationals in which he scored 286 goals, and before that already ten for the Soviet national team. In 2002 he accepted German citizenship. The right-hander, mostly in the left back position, was one of the best field scorers in the Bundesliga for many years as a player in Nettelstedt, Lemgo and Wetzlar. In 278 Bundesliga appearances, he scored a total of 1,017 field goals.

Career as a coach

From October 2010 to March 2012 he trained at HSG Wetzlar . For the 2012/13 season he was signed by TuS N-Lübbecke , but at Chalepo's request, the contract was terminated early with effect from the end of the 2012/13 season. In the 2013/14 season he coached TV Emsdetten . From March 2016 to June 2016 he trained the ThSV Eisenach .

In February 2020 it was announced that Chalepo should take over the U23 of HSG Wetzlar, who play in the 3rd division, from summer 2020.
