The 1980 DHB Cup was the sixth staging of the men's handball cup competition. The final took place on May 17, 1980 in Giessen . The winner of the final was for the first time in the club's history of TV Großwallstadt .

32 teams from the Bundesliga, the Regionalliga (= 2nd league), the Oberliga (= 3rd league, in Berlin: Stadtliga) and the regional association below the Oberliga competed against each other in the knockout system . A main round was held. This was followed by the further playout in eighth, quarter and half finals as well as a final.
