The SG Dietzenbach is a sports club from Dietzenbach in southern Hesse . In the past, SG Dietzenbach achieved national fame through its handball team , which played in the 1st handball league for many years .

history

In 1900 the first gymnasts came together in Dietzenbach to found the Workers' Gymnastics Club Vorwärts , which later became the Free Gymnastics and Sports Association. V. together. 1906 followed the founding of the sports club 06 , which made a contribution to the development of football. The beginnings of the handball game in Dietzenbach go back to 1926. After the Second World War , Martin Köhler was appointed sports officer for Dietzenbach by the military government. Together with Martin Altmannsberger and Philipp Knecht, he paved the way for the Dietzenbach sports community to be founded on November 4, 1945 in the “New Lion” as the successor organization to all previous sports clubs. According to the guidelines of the Allied Military Government, Dietzenbach with approx. 5000 inhabitants was only allowed to have one club. Another prerequisite for the approval to found the association was that the board of directors was not allowed to belong to any previous members of the NSDAP or any of its branches.

In the founding assembly, the following board of directors was elected from 250 athletes: 1st chairman: Martin Köhler (Rot-Sport Union), 2nd chairman: Jakob Keim (gymnastics community), treasurer: Willi Wurm (gymnastics community), 1st secretary: Martin Altmannsberger (free Gymnastics and Sports Association), 2nd Secretary: Erwin Heberer (Free Gymnastics and Sports Association), Assessor: Franz Stirnweiß (Sportclub 06), Football division: Georg Klößmann (Free Gymnastics and Sports Association), Handball division: Hermann Winkler (Turngesellschaft) .

The SG Dietzenbach handball team was represented in the handball Bundesliga for a total of ten seasons. In the seasons 1971/72 - 1973/74 and 1975/76 - 1976/77 you were a member of the Bundesliga southern season and played for another five years from the foundation of the single-track handball Bundesliga (1977/78) to the 1982/83 round in the handball upper house. In the all-time table of the 1st Bundesliga (1966–2013) they are currently 29th out of 90 teams.

In 2006 the handball department of SG Dietzenbach merged with TG Dietzenbach to form HSG Dietzenbach , which is currently active in the Offenbach / Hanau regional league.

Today the SG Dietzenbach is a popular sports club with approx. 950 members. It offers its members a wide range of seven main sports, most of which can also be visited by non-members (SG guests) with the SG card. The sport development took place as follows:
