Heinrich Keimig

Heinrich Keimig (born June 12, 1913 in Leiselheim , † January 15, 1966 in Offenbach am Main ) was a German handball player .

Keimig first played with the police SV Darmstadt, later with the police SV Magdeburg , with the Turngemeinde 1846 Worms and with the SG Dietzenbach . With the police SV Darmstadt he became German champion in field handball in 1934.

During his sporting career, he played two international matches for the German men's national handball team . As the second goalkeeper behind Heinz Körvers , he became Olympic champion with the German national handball team at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin .

During the Second World War he was seriously wounded as a sergeant in North Africa in September 1941 and was taken prisoner of war, from which he did not return until 1949.

Heinrich Keimig was a member of the Turnverein 1863 eV Worms-Leiselheim . In his honor, the handball department of TV Leiselheim awards the Heinrich Keimig Medal to well-deserved handball players. This medal is the highest award of the Turnverein 1863 eV Worms-Leiselheim.
