The gymnastics club 1863 e. V. Worms-Leiselheim ( TV Leiselheim for short ) is a sports club from Leiselheim , a suburb of Worms .

The association has around 930 members (as of 11.2019) and is therefore one of the largest and at the same time one of the most diverse associations in Worms and the Rheinhessen region. The heart and home of the club is the club's own sports hall and clubhouse on the Trappenberg in Leiselheim, the highest point in the village.

History and tradition

The TV Leiselheim has existed since 1863 and therefore has a long history and tradition in and around Leiselheim. The club traditionally consists of several branches and departments, with the gymnasts forming the core department since it was founded. In addition to the gymnastics department, the club has offered other departments such as table tennis and handball and thus sports that have shaped the club for decades and to this day. Last but not least, the " Heinrich Keimig Medal", named after Heinrich Keimig from Leiselheim, who won Olympic gold with the German handball Olympic team in 1936, is awarded for outstanding sporting achievements and services in the club. The club has been offering other target group-specific sports for several years.

Within the departments, there are in turn various sports groups (e.g. Indiaca, gymnastics, adventure, kick-boxing).

Table tennis

The men's team in the table tennis department was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the 2018/19 season . The players Constantin Cioti , Nico Stehle , Sushmit Sriram, Medardas Stankevicius and Vladimir Anca were involved. The Egyptian Youssef Abdel-Aziz (from Hohenstein-Ernstthal), the Belarusian Vadim Yarashenka (from Magdeburg) and the Englishman David McBeath were hired as reinforcements .

Events and action

In addition to offering sports as a club, TV Leiselheim is also a regular host of major sporting and social events such as:

  • German championships in trampoline jumping
  • International gymnastics competitions
  • Rendezvous of the best
  • World class table tennis tournaments

The association also offers events and courses in self-defense for local and regional administration, security services or other institutions. In addition to fitness and power courses, hazard prevention courses for children and parents are also offered. The Vovinam department, as a martial arts department, has also created an adventure group through the commitment of the department management and the trainers. Here elements from natural history are combined with typical bushcraft elements.

Current successes and awards

In 2019, the TV Leiselheim won the “Star of Sport” in bronze in Rhineland-Palatinate through the initiative “Sport after Cancer Disease” for an exemplary merging of associations with cooperation partners in the holistic care of patients after cancer treatment.

Partner clubs

The TV Leiselheim has a partner club in Leiselheim with the SSC Trappenberg. The SSC Trappenberg offers skiing, snowboarding and, in summer, water sports, hiking and Nordic walking. This partnership was also established in 2019 in the joint establishment of the support association “Sport am Trappenberg e. V. "visible. In the future, this sponsoring association will bundle the strengths of both associations.
