MTV Herzhorn
The men's gymnastics club Herzhorn from 1919 eV is an association from the Schleswig-Holstein community of Herzhorn . The club is known nationwide for its handball department .
Departments
The club is divided into the departments tennis , acrobatics , bowling , gymnastics , children's gymnastics and handball . The handball division is the largest division of MTV Herzhorn. The first men's team played in the 2nd handball league in the 1980s . In 1978 MTV even made it to the 1st Bundesliga , but Herzhorn decided against promotion for financial reasons. In 1977 the MTV failed only in the semifinals of the DHB Cup at VfL Gummersbach . The team currently plays in the upper league of the Schleswig-Holstein handball association (HVSH). Since Herzhorn itself does not have a suitable sports hall to host the games, the major league games take place in the Glückstadt sports hall "Glückstadt-Nord" , 10 km away, with a capacity of 800 spectators .
The most famous handball player was the 54-time national player Klaus Lange . The club's handball players also played in the Bundesliga at times.
