Herzhorn ( Low German : Hartshoorn ) is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . Gehlensiel, Moorhufen, Obendeich, Reichenreihe, Splethendamm, Mühlendeich and Mittelfeld are in the municipality.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1352. It consisted of buildings that stood on terps on the Elbe and that were destroyed around 1400 when the Elbe flooded . Until the entire area was dyed in 1615, the place was repeatedly destroyed by floods - and a few years after the dyke was built by the Thirty Years' War .
On the centrally located Kirchwarft, the fourth church building after 1520 is St. Anne's Church from 1954 (under monument protection since 2007).

Assignments

On January 1, 1974, a sub-area with then more than 200 inhabitants was assigned to the city of Glückstadt .

politics

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council has the Wählergemeinschaft KWV since the local elections on May 6, 2018 seven seats, the SPD has four seats.

economy

Herzhorn lies in the fertile marshland and is predominantly agricultural, with cattle farming being the dominant feature.
