coat of arms
Blazon : "In blue a raised golden tip, inside a narrow openwork wavy thread, from which a green ash leaf grows."
The basic color yellow relates to the natural spatial location of the municipality. The wedge in the head of the shield should point to the back of an elongated ridge. The ridge forms an important watershed between Stör and Elbe and the former catchment area of the Eider , which is now formed by the Kiel Canal, which is symbolized by the interrupted wave thread in the shield base. The place name Aasbüttel is derived from Asch (ash) and Büttel (settlement) and can be translated as settlement near Eschen . The ash leaf is supposed to symbolize the interpretation of the name.
economy
There is a company in the community that manufactures turf.
sons and daughters of the town
- Hans-Richard Hirschfeld (1900–1988), ambassador
- Claus Göttsche (1899–1945), head of the Jewish section of the Hamburg Gestapo
