Elskop is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .
Geography and traffic
Elskop is five kilometers east of Glückstadt in the Elbmarsch. A few kilometers west of the federal highway 431 runs from Elmshorn to Glückstadt, a few kilometers northeast of the federal highway 23 from Elmshorn to Itzehoe .
The districts Elskoper Altendeich or Am Alten Deich and Sushörn belong to the community.
history
As early as 1260, Dutch settlers laid out the plots that are still used today for settlement.
Eight courtyards in the municipality are recognized as cultural monuments.
In the 1970s, Günter Grass owned one of the homesteads for some time.
