Heiligenstedten ( Low German : Hillensteden / Hellensteden ) is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The districts Julianka, Juliankaholz and Sandweg belong to the community. The Castle Heiligenstedten located in the municipality.
Geography and traffic
Heiligenstedten is located directly west of Itzehoe on the Stör , which is a federal waterway beyond Heiligenstedten . The federal highways 5 and 204 and the Hamburg – Westerland march line run through the municipality . From September 1, 1899 (opening) to May 22, 1971, Heiligenstedten had its own train stop on the march line, the Heiligenstedten station (coordinates) . In 1985 the station facilities were partially demolished, the reception building is still preserved as a residential building. The Heiligenstedten bascule bridge leads over the Stör. Heiligenstedten is separated from the neighboring municipality of Bekmünde from the Moorwetter , through which part of the municipal area drains.
history
The church of the community was founded between 810 and 812, making it one of the oldest churches in Schleswig-Holstein. Today's St. Mary's Church dates from the end of the 13th century.
There has been a bridge over the Stör in Heiligenstedten since 1442. The first castle, built in 1717 and based on a Renaissance seat, was destroyed in a storm surge in 1756. At the same place, a castle was built again in 1769, which was remodeled in a neo-Gothic style in the 19th century . In the 20th century, various concepts were sought for the system.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the Julianka manor was demolished.
Public transport connections
Heiligenstedten has several bus stops from which buses go to Itzehoe, Wilster / Brunsbüttel (6606), Besdorf (14) or Huje / Oldendorf Bad (3).
Line 3 to Huje / Oldendorf Bad and Itzehoe is used by Vineta-Steinburg , the city bus company in Itzehoe (every hour).
The 6606 line to Wilster / Brunsbüttel or Itzehoe is operated by Lampe Reisen or Rathje Reisen on behalf of Autokraft (no regular intervals).
Line 14 to Besdorf or Itzehoe is operated by Holsten-Express or Voss (no regular intervals).
The main bus stop is Heiligenstedten, summer. All lines go there. The 6606 also runs three times on Sunday to Brunsbüttel and three times to Itzehoe. Otherwise there is no public transport bus service in Heiligenstedten on Sunday. To take the bus to the Julianka district, you have to take line 3. The 6606 and 14 only run on the main road.

The bascule bridge shown in the coat of arms connects both banks of the Stör, it dates from the 16th century. As a central figure, she is the real landmark of the community. The sturgeon, represented by the corrugated shield base, was an important shipping route that enabled the feeder trade from the Elbe to Itzehoe.
Sports
The TSV Heiligenstedten is the largest sports club in place. Football , tennis , children's gymnastics , fitness , tamburello and volleyball are all on offer . For men, bowling is offered in the Kegel-Sportclub (KSC) Heiligenstedten and for women in the Ladies-Kegel-Sportclub (DKSC) Heiligenstedten. Both clubs are members of the Itzehoe bowling association.
