coat of arms

Blazon : "Divided by silver and blue by a beveled notch, above under a narrow blue wavy bar three gable-side red houses standing next to each other in the position 1.5: 2, below two crossed silver ears of corn."

The crossed ears of wheat in the base of the coat of arms indicate the agricultural character of the village. The municipal area was divided by the construction of the Kiel Canal. The same applies to the course of the Holstenau, the northern border river of the municipality. Holstein used to end here. The abstract profile of the canal and the corrugated beam in the main shield are intended to remind of these drastic hydraulic engineering measures, which led to very significant changes in village life. The three stylized houses refer to the name of the municipality Holstenniendorf: Nindorf = to the new village. They are intended to symbolize both the residential houses of the community and the buildings that serve the craft and trade.
