Location of the community of Blomesche Wildnis in the Steinburg district

Blomesche Wildnis ( Low German : Bloomsche Wildnis ) is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

The community of Blomesche Wildnis is located directly north of Glückstadt and consists of several street settlements on the Elbe .

history

Today's settlements emerged from the dikes at the beginning of the 17th century. Earlier settlements in the municipality had to be abandoned due to flooding in the 14th century. As a result of this, the foreland on the Elbe is called wilderness or desert , which is still reflected in the place name today. The first part of the place name goes back to the Blomes , the last owners of the estate, which was founded in 1667 and who owned the land in today's municipal area. Previously, the properties were referred to as Ahlefeldsche or Plessensche Wildnis .

The community has been independent since 1889.

Assignments

On January 1, 1974, a sub-area with then more than 300 inhabitants was assigned to the city of Glückstadt .

politics

Since the municipal elections in 2013, the KWV voter community has all nine seats in the municipal council.

economy

The municipality located in the marshland is dominated by agriculture, with vegetable growing dominating. The largest employer in town is the Otto Piening company, which produces ship propellers . Since 1933 there has been a branch of the Alsterdorf Foundation in the village that looks after the disabled.
