Geography and traffic
Christinenthal is on the federal highway 430 between Schenefeld and Hohenwestedt . The Bekau and the Lammsbek flow through the community.
history
Until 1745 the community was called Weddeldorp or Wedeldorf . It was renamed in honor of Margravine Christina Sophie von Braunschweig-Bevern, who had her summer residence Solitude here . Her husband was the Margrave Friedrich Ernst zu Brandenburg-Culmbach , who resided in the neighboring Drage in Schloss Friedrichsruh . There are no more remains of the small summer castle, its place is now taken by Gut Christinenthal. In the garden of the estate, however, rudiments of the park, which was once decorated with avenues, flower beds and a labyrinth, have been preserved.
