Wiedenborstel is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . With eleven inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018), it is the second smallest municipality in Germany after Gröde . It consists of an estate which is located in the middle of large forests.

In 1910 Wiedenborstel still had 119 inhabitants.

Wiedenborstel is about twelve kilometers north of Kellinghusen and ten kilometers west of Neumünster in the Aukrug Nature Park . The Wegebek and the Reetbek flow through the community. The Itzespitze , the highest point in the Steinburg district, is located in the municipality. The federal highway 430 runs north from Neumünster to Itzehoe . The closest train station is Aukrug on the Neumünster – Heide line .

Since the community has fewer than 70 inhabitants, instead of a community council it has a community assembly to which all citizens of the community belong.
