Dvorak (card game)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dvorak card game is a card game with simple basic rules, albeit in some cases very complex rules for each deck - but (almost) every card explains all the rules that it touches.

Basic rules

Each Dvorak deck is made up of different types of cards. The types are mostly action and item, but some decks have different card types. At the beginning each player receives five cards. The remaining cards are put face down to form a supply pile. In addition, an empty space is declared for the discard pile. The discard pile is revealed. If the supply stack is empty, a new supply stack is formed from the storage stack after mixing.

It is the turn of the players in turn. When it is a player's turn, he takes a card (from the supply pile). Then he can play a certain number of actions and display a certain number of objects. How high this number is depends on the deck. At the end of the turn you can have a maximum of five cards in hand - excess cards are discarded. The winning condition depends on the deck (there can be cards that give you a win under certain conditions, or deck-specific rules, for example in programming you win as soon as you own a program that has five features but no bugs). Some decks have no win conditions, only loss conditions - then the player who was the last to not lose wins.

Special rules of the deck break the basic rules if they differ. Rules of the cards break the rules of the deck. If the cards contradict each other, the last card played counts.

Others

Most of the Dvorak decks are written in English. Dvorak is not sold by any company, but the decks are available on the Internet for printing and cutting. Furthermore, everyone is free to design their own decks.
