Münsterdorf ( Low German : Münsterdbod ) is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Geography and traffic

Münsterdorf is located about two kilometers south of Itzehoe an der Stör on the Münsterdorfer Geestinsel . The federal highways 5 and 77 and the federal highway 23 run nearby .

Outsourcing

On February 1, 1973, a part of the area with then more than 100 inhabitants was assigned to the neighboring community of Breitenburg .

Community representation

Of the 13 seats in the municipal council, the SPD has six, the DMW voter community five and the KIM voter community two seats since the local elections in 2018 .

economy

There are several craft, service and retail businesses in the municipality. Including the Münsterdorfer Mobiliengilde , one of the oldest insured communities in the world.

Attractions

The town center is dominated by the neo-Gothic St. Anschar Church , the historic village restaurant “Krug zum green Kranze” and the historic primary school from 1893.

Sports

The Münsterdorfer Sportverein (MSV) is a popular sports club with over 1000 members, most of whom come from the town and its immediate surroundings. The club has more than 50 teams in various branches that take part in competitions at the district level and several hobby groups that do not take part in point games.
