Dammfleth ( Low German : Dammfleet ) is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The municipality includes the districts of Hochfeld, Klein Kampen (partly), Landscheide, Neufeld, Neumühlen (partly), Poßfeld, Rotenmeer and Stadtfeld (partly).

Geography and traffic

Dammfleth is on federal highway 5 , south of Wilster . The Kampritt Wetter flows through the municipality.

history

The community is first mentioned in a document in 1164. The name of the community probably means Fleth am Damm . In 1971 one of the community's landmarks, a windmill , burned down. It was not rebuilt. In 1983 Dammfleth received the model community for landscape maintenance award .
