About this picture

Altenmoor ( Low German : Olenmoor ) is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The district Bullendorf belongs to the community.

Geography and traffic

Altenmoor is located in the Königsmoor, about five kilometers west of Elmshorn . The federal highway 431 runs south from Elmshorn to Glückstadt .

politics

Community representation

Since the local elections in 2008, the KWV voters' community has all nine municipal council seats.

coat of arms

Blazon : “In silver, a seated green frog above three floating black bars, which are slanted downwards. In the right upper corner a five-point crown, the middle point with a ball. "

A common symbol for the settlement and coexistence of man and nature in the Königsmoor is the frog. Closely connected to the moor , the frog also represents the eponymous district of Altenmoor. The name of the district Bullendorf can be derived from the "Bollen" or " Bohlen ", which are shown in the shield base of the coat of arms. Originally, the village could only be reached and farmed via plank paths. Under Danish royal rule in the time of Christian IV , the naming and settlement of the village began. This is visible in the field name Königsmoor, which has been preserved to this day, and is expressed in the coat of arms by the crown.

economy

The municipal area is predominantly agricultural, but the place is increasingly becoming a place of residence for commuters.

The Elmshorn - Westerland march runs through the eastern part of the municipality, but without ever having a train station or a stop there. The next train station is Elmshorn , a few kilometers east of Altenmoor.
