Heiligenstedtenerkamp ( Low German : Hillensteednerkamp / Hellensteednerkamp ) is a municipality in the Steinburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . It is the municipality with the longest name in one word in Germany with 21 characters. In addition, the municipality is in 11th place in the list of the smallest municipalities in Germany . In comparison to other communities in the Steinburg district, Heiligenstedtenerkamp is very densely populated. The population density corresponds to that in large cities and metropolitan areas. The nearby Itzehoe is similarly densely populated.

Geography and traffic

Heiligenstedtenerkamp is located directly southwest of Itzehoe . The Itzeho district of Wellenkamp is to the east of the municipality, Kremperheide is to the south, Hodorf to the west and Heiligenstedten to the northwest . Itzehoe city center can be reached in 15 to 20 minutes by bus.

The federal highway 23 or the federal highway 5 are within a radius of 5 km.

history

Heiligenstedtenerkamp is first mentioned in the records around 1300, but it has only existed as a community since around 1660. At that time people lived there who worked as employees of the castle in nearby Heiligenstedten, hence the name "Kamp".

A primary school was founded in 1812, which was replaced by the "Wellenkamp Primary School" in 1972, so that the house has been largely used as a kindergarten since 1987.

Since the 2008 local elections, the SPD has six and the CDU three seats in the municipal council. Since the local elections in 2018, the WGH (voter community Heiligenstedtenerkamp) has five and the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) four seats in the municipal council.
