Tamburello

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tamburello is a team sport that can best be compared to tennis or fistball .

The name of the sport is derived from the Italian of the sports equipment used, which is reminiscent of a tambourine .

history

Tamburello (Italian for "small drum") is a very old sport , a version of this sport was already played in ancient Rome . The game has been played in Italy since the 17th century . The game developed in Italy and from there spread to the whole world. An Italian championship was held for the first time in 1896, and the first set of rules was written in 1920. In Italy, the country of origin, it is played mainly in the rural regions of northern Italy and occasionally in central and southern Italy. There are also clubs in France, Spain, Hungary, England and, since 1998, in Germany. Clubs can now also be found worldwide (e.g. in Sweden, Portugal, Russia, Japan, Brazil). In 2010 the German Tamburello Sports Association was founded, to which 12 member clubs (as of 2018) belong.

Drumstick and Ball (Open)

The playing field is rectangular, 80 meters long and 20 meters wide and is delimited by lines. It is divided in the middle by another line. There is a service line on each side of the field of play, approximately 35 meters from the center line. There are always two teams playing, each of which is in one of the two halves of the pitch and usually consists of five players. Each player has a kind of tambourine as a "bat" . The ball weighs 88 grams, is made of rubber and has a diameter of six centimeters. Each rally begins with a team serving from the service line. The ball must be played into the opponent's field of play and may only land once on the ground before it is returned. Playing within the team is not permitted. If a ball hits more than once or if it is not returned to the opposing field, the opposing team receives one point. The counting is similar to that in tennis (0-15-30-40 game win, without debit / advantage). The winner of an encounter is the team that won 13 games first and is at least two games ahead.

Game variants

In addition to the classic Tamburello ( Open ), there are three other game variants.

The indoor version is based on the open . There, three players per team face each other on a 34 × 16 meter field. The way of playing and counting is the same as the classic variant. However, the game ball is a pressureless tennis ball here.

At the beach , single players or two doubles face each other. The playing field is slightly larger than a beach volleyball field and the halves of the game are separated by a net. The method of counting corresponds to that of volleyball , each ball won gives one point and the sets are played on twelve profit points. Beach is usually played on sand.

Tambourelli is a variant that was developed in Scotland and is widespread there. Here is played with shuttlecock on a slightly smaller badminton field. The halves of the game are also separated by a net. It is played in singles, doubles or mixed doubles. The distribution of points is the same as that of badminton . The racket differs from the other variants in its smaller size and weight. Tambourelli is enjoying growing popularity in Germany, especially in youth sports.
