The Heiligenstedten bascule bridge is a road bridge in Heiligenstedten that crosses the Stör .
The bridge is a way to cross a fault; otherwise, there is only the Störbrücke the main road 77 in Itzehoe and 12 km downstream in Beidenfleth the Störfähre Else , as well as a further 10 km downstream the B 431 over the location on the estuary Störsperrwerk .
A Störbrücke has existed in Heiligenstedten since 1442; previously there was only a wooden footbridge across the river. In 1777 the bridge was converted into a wooden bascule bridge. The current bridge is a construction completed at the end of 1967, which became necessary after the previous bridge was completely destroyed in a ship collision in 1966. It is operated by the Steinburg district .
The bridge and the bridge keeper's house, which dates from the 19th century, are among the cultural monuments of the community of Heiligenstedten . The bridge can also be found in the coat of arms and in the seal of the municipality.
