The current church building dates from the end of the 13th century; It got its present appearance through renovations in 1580. In 1826 the church, which until then had been on a dike in the outer dike, was diked. The church is still a few steps lower than the entrance.
Heiligenstedten Castle in Heiligenstedten near Itzehoe in Schleswig-Holstein is the center of a former noble estate. Although actually a mansion according to this definition, the name of a castle has been used for some time in the general public. The building is based on a fortified manor house from the 16th century in the Stör area.
A Störbrücke has existed in Heiligenstedten since 1442; previously there was only a wooden footbridge across the river. In 1777 the bridge was converted into a wooden bascule bridge. The current bridge is a construction completed at the end of 1967, which became necessary after the previous bridge was completely destroyed in a ship collision in 1966. It is operated by the Steinburg district.
