history

The TSV was founded on May 11, 1905 as the Milbertshofen gymnastics club by Fritz Schüpferling and Josef Mick. The handball department was set up in 1923 and has shaped the club's reputation to this day. In the years 1939 to 1945 sports activities were shut down due to the war. In 1945 the TV Milbertshofen , Free Gymnastics Association Section 6 and VfB Munich merged to form the Free Gymnastics and Sports Club Munich-Milbertshofen . As the third club in Munich, the club received a license from the US military administration as VV Bredl in 1945 . In 1946 the table tennis club TTC Milbertshofen joined. In 1950 the club was renamed TSV Milbertshofen . The basketball department was founded in 1968 and the volleyball department in 1969.

Table tennis

The table tennis department was established in 1946 when the previously independent table tennis club TTC Milbertshofen joined the club. This TTC was founded in 1931 by Georg and Ludwig Apfelbeck, Eugen Kögler, Rudi Kreuzer, Adolf Schurr, Erich Böhmer, Martin Trattner and August Rothmeier. After several promotions, the club played in the top division as early as 1934. After the Second World War , the two clubs merged. In the 1950s, the men of TSV Milbertshofen were among the best German teams. The women's team also played in the major league at the time, before it was withdrawn in 1959, but was promoted again a year later.

The TSV became German team champions twice:

Between 1952 and 1960 they reached a place in the top four five times. When the table tennis Bundesliga was founded in 1966, the team consisted of Conny Freundorfer , Horst Thein , Klaus Maier , Marijan Biscan, Holger Rostek, Claus Michalk, Müller and Matthias Ostermayer. Between 1966 and 1992 the club played in the table tennis Bundesliga for seven years with interruptions, but was only able to prevent immediate relegation in 1976/77 and 1990/91.

The four-time German individual champion (from 1977 to 1981) Peter Stellwag played for the club from 1990 to 1992.

When the sponsor jumped at the end of the 1991/92 season, the club withdrew its team from the Bundesliga.

The former youth player Thomas Kastenmaier made his breakthrough in the Bundesliga in 1989 and played a total of 191 Bundesliga games (41 goals) for FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach .

In 2001, youth leader Franz Leder received the honorary award from the Bavarian Football Association for his services to youth work and was honored as a district winner in Erding by the former President of FC Bayern Munich Uli Hoeneß and appointed to the "Club 100" of the German Football Association .

In recent years, the association has distinguished itself particularly in youth training. The TSV youth teams are among the best in Munich's football scene. They regularly hand over youth players to the professional clubs FC Bayern Munich , TSV 1860 Munich and SpVgg Unterhaching . All teams are so-called age-group teams that play either in the Bayernliga, Landesliga, Bezirksoberliga, Kreisliga or Kreisklasse.

The later Georgian national player Lucas Hufnagel , the later Unterhachingen professionals Christian Hain , Patrick Ghigani and Florian Hörnig as well as the 13-time Turkish national player Volkan Yaman also played at TSV Milbertshofen in their youth.
