Volkan Yaman (born August 27, 1982 in Munich ) is a German - Turkish soccer player .

Athletic career

Club soccer

During his youth, Volkan Yaman played for SC Freimann Munich, TSV 1860 Munich and TSV Milbertshofen in his hometown . In 2001 he moved to the fifth-rate national division club Türk SV 1975 Munich, where he played six league games and was relegated to the sixth-rate regional league with the team . For the 2004/2005 season Yaman moved to the Turkish second division team Antalyaspor . In his first season in Antalya, Volkan Yaman made 33 games and scored 7 goals, but only reached a rather disappointing 14th place in the table with his team. In the following season, the team came in second and thus made it to the top class. The league did not succeed the team with 16th place, however, Yaman took his next career step, because the top club Galatasaray Istanbul secured the services of the player for the 2007/08 season. Galatasaray paid 1 million euros for the defender and gave Fevzi Elmas in exchange. He made his first goal in the first competitive game with a left-footed free kick against Çaykur Rizespor .

On August 26th, 2009, Yaman moved to the traditional Anatolian club Eskişehirspor , like his colleague Ümit Karan before him .

With the expiry of his contract in the summer of 2012, he moved to the Süper Lig promoted Kasımpaşa Istanbul for free and played here for the next two seasons. After a few months of being without a club, he went back to Upper Bavaria, where he was briefly in the squad of the fourth-class regional division VfR Garching before he went to the fifth-class Bayern division SV Heimstetten .

National team

Volkan Yaman made his debut for the Turkish national team on May 24, 2006 in a friendly against Belgium . He played his first "important" international match in the European Championship qualification against the Greeks . The Turks won the game 4-1 in Athens .
