history
The club was founded in 1967 and played in the B and A classes until the mid-1980s.
The success story of SV Heimstetten began in 1993 with its first promotion to the district league. After promotion to the regional league in 1998 and the regional league in 2003, they were promoted to the then fourth-class Bayern league in 2006. While the team managed to stay ahead of the league in the first year as tenth in the table, they had to come back after the 2007/08 season as penultimate relegated to the national league.
After two seasons, SV Heimstetten was promoted to the Bayern League again in 2010. In 2011/2012 the SVH reached 15th place in the table and thus qualified for the relegation to the Regionalliga, in which they defeated Würzburg FV 1-0 in the first leg and thanks to the away goal with a 2-1 defeat in the second leg they qualify for the newly created Regionalliga Bayern managed.
SV Heimstetten has played in the Bayern Regionalliga since 2012 and was the third-best team from Upper Bavaria in the 2012/13 season in fifth place behind the reserves of TSV 1860 Munich and FC Bayern Munich . Heimstetten won both games against the later champions 1860 II , and there were two draws against the small Bavarians . In 2013/14 SV Heimstetten secured relegation as table 14. (of 19 teams) only on the last matchday.
After a disappointing 2014/15 season , which ended in 15th place for SVH, SV Heimstetten had to enter the fifth-class Bayernliga Süd after two relegation games against FC Amberg . There, the SVH took sixth place in the 2015/16 season. In 2018 the club managed to return to the Bavarian Regional League as champions of the Bayernliga Süd. The season 2018/19 ended the SV Heimstetten in 17th place, which usually means the descent into the Bavarian League. Due to the forced relegation of the second team of FC Ingolstadt 04 , which was placed in last place after the end of the season, the SVH was now sixteenth in the relegation . There the team was able to prevail against TSV 1896 Rain , the runner-up of the Bayernliga Süd, and thus secure relegation.
SV Heimstetten has never taken part in the first main round of the DFB Cup .
