The Türkgücü Munich e. V. (translated as "Türkische Kraft München eV"; formerly Turkish SV Munich and SV Türkgücü-Ataspor Munich ) is a soccer club from Munich . The club was founded in 2001 as the successor to the insolvent SV Türk Gücü Munich . The first men's team was promoted to the fourth-class Bavarian regional league in 2019 and the third division a year later .

history

Predecessor club

SV Türk Gücü Munich was founded in 1975 by a group of Turkish migrants . From 1988 to 1992 and from 1994 to 1996 the team played in the third-class Bayernliga and attracted up to 12,000 spectators to the Dante stadium when they played against TSV 1860 Munich . The club was also successful in volleyball . The men's and women's teams played in the Bundesliga in the 1987/88 season. In 2001 the association had to file for bankruptcy and was dissolved. The background to this was the return of the president and financier Ergun Bersoy to Turkey .

From Turkish SV to SV Türkgücü-Ataspor (2001 to 2016)

As a successor club, the Turkish SV Munich was founded, which was relegated from the regional league in its first season and in 2005 had to go to the district league. In 2008, the club went down to the district league, before the Turkish SV merged with the district league club SV Ataspor Munich a year later , which was formed in 1981 as a spin-off from SV Türk Gücü Munich. The SV Türkgücü-Ataspor rose in 2013 after successful relegation games against TSV Bobingen and TSV Grünwald in the national league.

Hasan Kivran joins and promotes (since 2016)

On January 1, 2016, the entrepreneur Hasan Kivran, who had previously played for the previous club himself, joined SV Türkgücü-Ataspor as president and invested large sums of money. After several years of relegation battle, the upswing began. In the summer of 2017, the team invested heavily and, in addition to coach Andreas Pummer, five players were brought in from Bayern league champions FC Unterföhring . Promotion to the Regionalliga Bayern by 2020 was set as the goal . After starting difficulties, Türkgücü-Ataspor fought a duel with SE Freising for the championship. The decision was made on the penultimate matchday when Munich had to travel to Freising for a direct duel . The 3-1 win secured the championship and promotion to the Bayern League. In the very first season , the championship of the southern season made it through to the Regionalliga Bayern, so that the goal he had set himself was achieved a year earlier.

After promotion to the regional league, a change of name to Türkgücü Munich was decided in June 2019. According to the squad planner Robert Hettich, the old club name would have been "simply too long, and the media would have sometimes talked about Türkgücü, sometimes Türkata, sometimes TGA". In addition, Reiner Maurer , who brought with him experience from professional football, took over the coaching position of the squad, which was almost completely replaced. Experienced third division and regional league players such as Mario Erb , Benedikt Kirsch or Karl-Heinz Lappe were signed, while captain Yasin Yılmaz was the longest-serving player after having been with the club for two years. In addition, the game operations were spun off to Türkgücü München Fußball GmbH and Robert Hettich was appointed managing director. The goal now was to move up to the 2nd Bundesliga by 2023 .

After a decent start and a temporary lead on the 2nd matchday, the team again conquered the top of the table on matchday 14 and became autumn champions after 17 games . On February 29, 2020, the association and its managing director Robert Hettich separated by mutual agreement. He was followed by the previous game manager Maximilian Kothny. In mid-March, games were interrupted across Germany due to the COVID-19 pandemic , at this point in time, Türkgücü was still in 1st place in the table. The BFV reported the club on June 21, 2020 as a promoter for the 3rd league for the 2020/21 season . Since there are plans to continue the season, which will be possible from September 2020, the Munich team will be the only team no longer to participate in regional league games.

For the 2020/21 season , the club presented Alexander Schmidt , who last worked in the Austrian Bundesliga , as the successor to head coach Maurer. For the granting of the third division license, the club reported the flyeralarm arena in Würzburg as "unrestrictedly available venue", as well as the Munich Olympic Stadium and the municipal stadium on Grünwalder Strasse in Munich.

Stadion

The home venue was initially the Heinrich-Wieland-Strasse district sports facility near the Ostpark . The Bayern League was played in the SV Heimstetten sports park . After promotion to the Regionalliga Bayern, they played in Heimstetten until the winter break of the 2019/20 season , but switched to the municipal stadium on Grünwalder Straße for the second half of the season , where the third division teams 1860 and Bayern Munich II play as the main users .

After promotion to the 3rd division , Türkgücü is likely to play up to eight home games in the Munich Olympic Stadium in the 2020/21 season, subject to approval by the city . The Grünwalder Stadium could continue to serve for the remaining games. In contrast, the Würzburg Flyeralarm Arena was reported as an "unrestrictedly available venue" .
