Michael Hofmann (born November 3, 1972 in Bayreuth ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper and today's soccer coach .

Career

As a player

Hofmann began his career in 1979 in the youth department of SV Mistelgau and moved to SpVgg Bayreuth in the summer of 1986 , where he was used 139 times in the Bayern League until 1996 . In the summer of 1996 he moved to TSV 1860 Munich as a contract amateur for two years . In the 1996/97 season he was the third goalkeeper behind Bernd Meier and Rainer Berg for the Löwen , but was regularly used by the amateurs in the Bayern League, with whom he made promotion to the Regionalliga Süd in 1997 . Also in the following season he was a regular for the amateurs. Nominally he was behind Bernd Meier and Daniel Hoffmann in the ranking of goalkeepers from 1860 , but on April 18, 1998 he made his first appearance in the Bundesliga . In the previous derby against FC Bayern , Meier blundered and was subsequently not considered by coach Werner Lorant . Hofmann also played the remaining three games of the season for the sixties and received a professional contract after the season.

From 1998 to 2009 Hofmann was the number 1 goalkeeper of the Lions , but often had to place himself behind other goalkeepers. In the 1998/99 season he played all 34 games. In the following season he was only used twice, while Daniel Hoffmann was a regular goalkeeper. This was no longer used in the 2000/01 season, but Hofmann was again not a regular goalkeeper. Hofmann played eight games, Simon Jentzsch was between the posts in the other games . In 2001/02 Hofmann was not used, in the 2002/03 season he guarded the gate twice. In the summer of 2003, Jentzsch left TSV 1860, Hofmann was then the goalkeeper again and played 32 games in the 2003/04 season .

After relegation in 2004, Hofmann stayed in Munich. 2004/05 he was on the first 20 game days in the goal of the Sechzger . On matchday 21 he was unable to play due to an injury, Timo Ochs took his place. Ochs was also in goal in the remaining games of the season. The following year Ochs played 33 games, Hofmann was used for the only time on matchday 34. In 2006/07 Hofmann was again a regular goalkeeper, he was used 31 times. In preparation for the 2007/08 season, coach Marco Kurz declared Philipp Tschauner to be the goalkeeper. However, this injured himself after four missions, so that Hofmann guarded the goal in the following 17 games. In February 2008 Hofmann was injured in the local derby in the DFB Cup and had to give up the space between the posts to Tschauner. In the 2008/09 season he was initially not used. However, after Uwe Wolf had replaced Kurz as coach in February 2009, Hofmann guarded the lions' goal in the following nine games . After the 30th matchday he had to give up his place again due to injury to Tschauner.

In the 2009/10 season Hofmann was the third goalkeeper of the Sechzger , this time behind Gábor Király and Philipp Tschauner; he wore the number 25 as in the years 1996 to 1998. He was twice in this season for the second team, with the professionals he was not even on the bench in the first 33 games. On the last day of the match he was substituted in for Tschauner, who also made his first appearance of the season in this game. After this game he ended his career at TSV 1860.

Hofmann played a total of 68 times for the amateurs and the second team of TSV 1860 and played 162 league games for the professional team. In addition, he was used 13 times in the DFB Cup and was on the field in five international games.

At the age of 37, Hofmann moved to SSV Jahn Regensburg in the third division for the 2010/11 season , where he was again the goalkeeper. In the first year he played all games, in the second year he was not on the starting line-up after a red card. In addition, after the club had reached 3rd place, he played two relegation games in which SSV Jahn made the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga perfect. Hofmann's contract, which was initially valid for one season, was extended twice for another year. He ended his career at SSV Jahn Regensburg during the winter break of the 2012/13 season . For the 2015/16 season he returned to SpVgg Bayreuth due to the red card suspension of the regular goalkeeper Andreas Sponsel . After his contract with Bayreuth was terminated, he played for SV Pullach .

As a trainer

Hofmann had already coached the national league team Kirchheimer SC in 2014/15 , for whose second team he played again as a goalkeeper in the league. In 2017 he joined the national league club SV Türkgücü-Ataspor Munich . After four missions in autumn 2017, he has been working as a goalkeeping coach since then.
